VOLUNTEERS 2010

  • You want to have fun and experiencing art at its best!

We have an exciting line-up of events coming this fall, starting on September 24th, 2010!

Abilities Arts Festival is looking for committed, enthusiastic, and friendly volunteers to help out at this year’s events. We are looking for people who have a considerable time to give, as well as those who can give only a few hours during the actual festival.

    The following are just some of the many volunteer opportunities:

  • Box Office / Ticket Sales / Registration

  • Front of House / On Site Communications / Refreshments
    You will be the “face” of the festival. Members of this team are responsible for
    helping our patrons figure out what’s going on, where they’re going and how to get there.

  • Performer / Crew Assistance
    Work with our Technical Coordinator and the talented performers participating
    at the festival during the events.

  • Transportation

Abilities Arts Festival provides a unique opportunity for you to contribute your enthusiasm and skills while also providing you with chance to make a difference

    2010 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
  • Connections 5 Visual Art Exhibit Opening – September 24th (evening)
  • In Celebration of Our Children and Youth – September 29th and 30th (day)
  • Family Day – October 1st (day)
  • Mirage at Scotiabank Nuit Blanche - October 2nd (evening)
  • Signals From The Stage – October 7th (evening)

Featured Artists:

Patrice Kouma

Patrice Kouma is an artist who is deaf due to an early bout with meningitis. In 1985, at the age of 15 he started painting with Sr Maria Rosa, an Italian. Kouma's paintings have been shown at many exhibitions throughout the Cameroon and were featured in a series of greetings cards produced by Gallaudet University in Washington DC in 2000. In June 2004, Kouma's work was showcased at VSA Arts Festival in Washington DC. Patrice Kouma currently teaches painting and ceramics to youth with disabilities. <Read More>
